Ricki-Lee came to me for singing lessons when he was 14.

Ricki-Lee was keen to copy singers like Daniel Beddingfield and sing as high as he could!

At 14, the boy’s voice has to be carefully nurtured otherwise long-lasting damage can be done to it. Gradually, I introduced Rickie-Lee to musical theatre and his repertoire has grown so that now he has achieved great success in musical stage productions, including “Scrooge – the musical”, in which he played the Young Ebenezer Scrooge and which I conducted. Since then I have seen him as the disciple Peter in “Jesus Christ, Superstar” and he is now preparing for the role of Valjean in “Les Miserables”. Ricki-Lee has come a long way in four years and has learnt that commitment and discipline are needed as well as raw talent. I wish him every success and will continue to watch with keen interest as he takes on more challenges.

Comments From London Agent - David Graham

I first met Rickie at an audition back in Sep 2005 and was impressed with his voice and performance.
I could see straight away that he was one of those rare performers that ticks all the right boxes.

Rickie and his father Lee invited me to see Rickie in 'Les Miserables', so I travelled from London to Wales to see him take on the lead role of Jean Val Jean, a complex and difficult role which Rickie pulled off really well. After getting to know Rickie, I also discovered that one of the great things about him is that he has his feet well on the ground and always conducts himself in a professional way. I‘m sure he has a great future and I look forward to attending the first night of his first West End show.

Gary Mason Productions

Gary Mason, Ex-British Champion Boxer, has now become Rickie's Record
Promoter after spotting him in a singing talent contest final in Wembley, London.

Quoted that "Rickie is a brilliant singer and for someone so young he possesses an inner confidence, whilst off stage he is very shy." Rickie normally sings R&B plus classical, but Gary has now introduced Rickie to the world of Reggae.

Adam Courquin

Producer and songwriter Adam Courquin of In Company Multimedia Productions (www.incompany.co.uk) had this to say about Rickie - “We worked with Rickie on some original material earlier this year.

Since then I’ve been to see him perform in Jesus Christ Superstar - being involved in that has really strengthened his voice. Rickie has a very natural and laid back stage presence which will serve him well. We look forward to working again with him soon!“.

In Company Multimedia Productions have written and produced for a wide range of acts, the results of which have attracted radio, record company and publishing attention. Recent clients include DV8, 80s legend Steve Strange, ex-Pop Idol Nikitah, Newport singer/songwriter Kevin Dyer and girl group Dragonheart, whose single entered the UK Indie Charts at No.11 in

Craig James (Director / Producer Blaenau Gwent Young Stars)

As Director of a theatre group it has been my ambition to direct 'Les Miserables' for as long as I can remember so when it became apparent that a youth edition was available I jumped at the chance immediately.

I felt that my first priority was to find an amazing cast, and of course at the head of that cast list was the amazing character Jean Val Jean, after my 1st round of auditions I discovered I had no-one capable of sustaining such a complex singing and acting role, particularly carrying off one of the best songs in musical theatre for decades "Bring Him Home".

I agreed with the production team that further auditions were needed and following an advert in the South Wales Argus landed the talents of rickie. His performance was like a breath of fresh air and I was immediately impressed not only by his wonderful vocal abilities but also his stage presence.

Since that time I have worked very closely with Rickie and have found him to behave as a true professional. Despite the fact that Rickie knew very little about the show on gaining the role, he set about researching into his character and learning the complex music in record time. He is easy to direct and is also more than capable of making suggestions of how he would like to play the part, he has without doubt added an extra layer to the character.

Offstage Rickie is just as professional, spending time developing his character both physically and mentally, he has an amazing, calm personality which makes him easy to work with.

Rickie-Lee is certainly a young person with an amazing talent and I wish him all the success in whatever professional avenue he takes.
