He was supposed to follow in his fathers footsteps as a professional footballer, but at 14 years old his father noticed his unique ability to remember songs after hearing them just once - it was then realised that Rickie was potentially a much better singer.

Since this time, it has been endorsed by various people within the profession that Rickie possesses a fantastic stage presence and an inner confidence, although strangely, offstage he is very shy.
